Paddling and backpacking down a lazy river, often called packrafting, combines the pure thrill of river navigation with the rugged adventure of backpacking into one unforgettable experience. This activity requires careful planning and thoughtful preparation, including selecting the right section of river to match your skill level, understanding its various hazards, and properly outfitting both yourself and your gear for the journey ahead. It’s absolutely crucial to be prepared for fluctuating water levels, potential portages around obstacles, and the reality of carrying all your essential supplies for the entire duration of the trip. Adventure awaits, but so does the need for smart, quirky-ready planning!

Sleep-Away Camps: Standup Paddle Boarding, Wind Watersports & Nature Adventure Camps

Winged not Wired Watersports runs the Splash Paddle Crew & Wind Warriors kids adventure group! Affordable and fun for all skill levels, from beginners to pros. Camp offers adventure, fun, and safety with activities like Paddle Boarding, SUP-Sailing with a Wing or Sail, Swimming/Snorkeling, Biking, Cornhole, Tug-a-war, Survivor Challenges, Water & Land Relays, Scavenger Hunts, Horseshoes, Night Fishing, Campfires, plus chances to make new friends. Join us—space is limited to 10 campers for a quality experience.

Sleep Away Camp: Lake West Point

  • Ages 8-12 | girls/boys seperate camps - 10 kids max | Run Time - 2pm drop off -12pm pickup
  • Spring/Summer Camps (April/June/July/August) | Monday-Friday 4nights /5days  $1500/ 2026 
  • Fall - Mon-Wed 2nights & 3days  $750 | Dates will be Monday-Wednesday 
  • Provided: Travel Trailers for lodging/AC, watersport toys, land games, USCG PFDs, sunscreen, water, cereal or bagels, non dairy milk, potato chips, trail mix, chips & salsa, sandwhiches - PB&J, tuna salad & chicken salad, lemonade, deviled eggs, mac salad, potato salad, Dinner- fried chicken, hots dogs, cheeseburgers, coleslaw, firewood, ice, girl scout cookies & s’mores
  • Families that participate in camping at the camp ground, a rental with their other children will be available.  $40 per board for the day camping when not in use.
We don’t offer scholarships, but parents can get a small discount by chaperoning at camp. Two chaperones are needed, discounts apply. Chaperones stay at the kids' camp with us. Watersports gear and food are provided.
